Fallback

Bing({'})h is a playful-artistic anthropology of sexual representation in language & image that aims to question existing taboos & paradoxes in the representation & discourse of sexuality.

Let's Talk About abalones, octopuses, cats and courgettes! What do they have in common? That’s right! They’re all creative expressions for the vulva!

How so? All of the above are nicknames for "vagina", or to be more precise, "vulva". The vagina is only one of many important parts of the female organ. Didn't know that? Neither did Bing({'})h's inventor Mona before she started on her exciting expedition through the wonderful world of vulvas. Today, she hopes to share her explorative adventures with all you marvelous Vulverines out there.

Inspired by the Mexican version of Bingo, LaLotería (opens new window), Bing({'})h playfully explores vulva variety. We all look different „down there“. While revealing the great variety of yoniversally available vulva nicknames, the charmingly designed game celebrates diversity and cuntributes to promoting a healthy body image in women and celebrating yoniqueness. Excuse all the puns but we love a good pun-ani!

Thought bingo was something for your nan? Something to tickle her at 63? Or to clickety clit at 66? Don’t be fooled! You can be 15 and young and keen, join Dirty Gertie at 30 or enjoy your time for fun at 41. Yes, we're versed at Bingo lingo.

A little foreplay before we begin the game.

The Bing({'})h Chronicles

Mona's Adventures in Vulvaland

Follow Mona on her great adventure. Experience the awe and mystery which reaches from the inner parts of the female body to the outer limits, the labia minora and majora:

  • Anatomy: "Aah, the term vagina only describes the inner part of the female body and doesn't include clitoris or labia."
  • Appearance: "There's no ideal vulva. No one should feel the need to undergo cosmetic surgery to change the look of their bits. Also, did you know that pubic hair functions as protection from bacteria and indeed was oh-so-trendy in the 60s?"
  • Art: "Vulvas are delightfully diverse. However, they're also extremely difficult to paint because of their different shapes and sizes."

A Briefs' History of Time

From Vagina Bangs to Clown Holes - where did the sometimes endearing and sometimes unfortunately detestable nicknames surrounding the female genitalia surface? Join us on our fascinating journey through the yoniverse:

  • (Inter)cultural: "Say what? Vulva in Arabic means courgette?"
  • Politics: "Nicknames can't always be determined by nation. In some cases, borders differ from the individual language area, as for instance on the African continent due to the effects of colonisation. Do we have a language map? We don't? Well, then it's high time to create one! We'll get our creative juices flowing right away!"
  • Science: "Can we please record each nickname's phonetic spelling? Unfortunately, we can't; phonetics are a particularly complex issue. But we'll make our best effort to add as many as possible and as soon as possible... well, it's a process ({'}). Where do the different terms of endearment derive from {etymology}, and how did they come about? What's the history (or rather herstory) of each vulva nickname? What do you mean no single source exists? Well then, it's high time for a book on vulva wisdoms. We're on it!!"
  • Sociology: "There's a reason Foucault devoted his time to a volume titled -The History of Sexuality-".

VISION:

If you'd like to get invulved, here are some of our current and ongoing projects:

  1. Bing({'})h - The Game: We're celebrating the first vulva version of bingo! OMG! We still can't believe that it's happening. Make sure to secure your very own edition:Crowdfunding (opens new window).*

  2. Vulva Wisdom (VW): Each vulva nickname has its own exciting story. How and where did the term originate? We're digging deeper and will publish our findings in a planned digital source book titled Vulva Wisdom. For example:

Snippa {Vulva in Swedish} was established in 2000 by feminist Anna Kosztovics who noticed a gap in the Scandinavian friendly-word-for-vulva market full article (opens new window)

A legend surrounds the origins of the term beaver. Apparently, a plague of fleas ravaging the US at the beginning of the 20th century resulted in sex workers being urged to shave their private parts. Their clients, however, didn't like the new look. In order not to lose their jobs, sex workers opted for a beaver hairpiece to cover their shaved area. Hence the term beaver.

  1. Get Invulved - You'd like to suggest an edit, reveal nickname sources or simply give us feedback? Bing({'})h is an ongoing process and is cuntinually updated thanks to your wonderful help - we can't get enuff of the wonderful muff! - Know a vulva nickname? Let us know! We're always collecting more to make our planned VWM a reality!

  2. Vulva World Map (VWM): We're currently featuring all our gathered information on international vulva nicknames in a single list. While this may be informative and innovative, we'd prefer an overview in form of an interactive map - the Vulva world Map. We want to highlight linguistic areas rather than political borders. The map will also make it easier to enter a new term of endearment that will be visible to everyone upon verification from our side.

  3. BingÛh – The Penis Bingo.

  4. Take Action: Want to invite friends and/or colleagues for a nice round of Bing({'})h with the artist as caller? Keen on hosting your own vulvalicous bingo in a fun yet educational workshop with a very special aha-moment? Want to help us create a digital, interactive language map? Get in touch for potential collaborations! We look forward to hearing from you!
